Waterproofing Applications

Façades and Thermal Insulation

Usage Tips:

Use exterior insulation when possible. This preserves interior space while reducing the effects of thermal expansion on the interior.

Know the expected temperatures. A wall that will receive constant sunlight will require thicker insulation than one which is shaded. Study the job site carefully.

Know the building’s usage. Precise climate control is more important for some applications than others. Right-size your insulation for the best balance between cost, space usage, and internal temperature consistency.

Avoid shutting down operations unless necessary. External facade systems can usually be installed with minimal disruption to occupants.

Tile Adhesive and Grout Applications

Usage tips:

Prepare the surface: The surface must be perfectly flat, with a substrate that is crack-proof and waterproofed.

Cement-based adhesives need dry environments. Cement adhesives are inexpensive but will quickly degrade if exposed to moisture.

Epoxy-based adhesives are waterproof. These are usually the best option for tile work in wet areas. Epoxy also withstands high heat well.

Polymer-based adhesives are flexible. If you expect thermal expansion and contraction, polymer adhesives are elastic and able to absorb movement.
Choose the right grout. Like adhesives, various grouts will stand up better to moisture, movement, or abrasion from the weather. Know your application!

Structural Repair and Reinforcement

KARÇİMSA Yapı Kimyasalları masonry, cement mortars, and concrete admixtures are perfect for structural repair and reinforcement in the UAE. They’re formulated and rated to stand up to the heat, humidity, and other environmental factors that can cause structural damage in the region.

Where to use: Restoring deteriorated concrete elements in bridges, columns, slabs, industrial floors, and heritage buildings. For example, repairing a corroded balcony edge, or strengthening aging bridge girders.

Usage tips:

Repair rather than replace. In many cases, damaged masonry can be restored to its original strength and functionality.
Always prime the surface. Either water- or resin-based primers will create a clean, unified surface for the repair mortar to bond with.
Know the damage severity. Is the damage structural or non-structural? Pick your repair product to match the damage.
For structural damage: Utilize fast-setting repair and leveling mortars which will rebuild the integrity of the structure.
For non-structural damage: Cementitious repair mortars will restore the look of the original concrete, quickly and easily.

Screed and Flooring Applications

KARÇİMSA Yapı Kimyasalları surface strengthening and protection materials such as screed offer superior protection even in high-use or high-traffic areas. Our products protect your concrete and other surfaces, ensuring their quality lasts for years to come.

Where to use: Residential floors, industrial facilities, car parks, hospitals, or any other area requiring a level substrate. For example, leveling an industrial warehouse floor or preparing a floor for underfloor heating.

Usage tips:

Prepare the surface. The substrate should be thoroughly cleaned of dust and debris and primed to ensure proper bonding.

Divide the area into sections. Working section by section will help ensure the screed is spread evenly across the entire surface.

Level as you go. Unless you’re using a self-leveling screed, use a straight-edged object in a sawing motion for leveling.

Protect the screed while drying. In general, the screed will require around one day per 1mm. It must be protected from disruption or weight during this time.
